Three blondes were sitting by the side of a river, quietly holding fishing poles with their lines in the water. It looked like a peaceful, ordinary dayâuntil a game warden walked up behind them.
He tapped one of them on the shoulder and said,
âExcuse me, ladies, Iâd like to see your fishing licenses.â
The first blonde turned around and calmly replied,
âWe donât have any.â
The warden frowned. âWell, if youâre going to fish, you need fishing licenses.â
The second blonde quickly jumped in and said,
âBut officer, we arenât fishing.â
The warden raised an eyebrow. âOh really? Then what are you doing?â
The third blonde smiled and said,
âWe all have magnets at the end of our lines, and weâre collecting debris off the bottom of the river.â
Now the warden was curious.
He stepped forward, lifted one of the lines out of the water⌠and sure enough, there was a magnet tied to the end.
He checked the second lineâanother magnet.
Then the thirdâsame thing.
He paused for a moment, clearly thinking it over.
Finally, he shrugged and said,
âWell, I donât know of any law against that. Go aheadâtake all the debris you want.â
And with that, he turned and walked away.
The moment he was out of sightâŚ
The three women looked at each otherâ
âŚand burst out laughing hysterically.
One of them wiped tears from her eyes and said:
âSee? I told you this would work!â
Another added, still laughing:
âHe actually believed we were cleaning the river!â
And the third one grinned and said:
âOf course he did⌠we are cleaning the riverâŚâ
She lifted her line slightly and whispered:
âJust not the kind of âdebrisâ he was thinkingâŚâ
Because attached to their magnetsâhidden just beneath the waterâ
were dozens of shiny metal objectsâŚ
Coins, tools, lost jewelryâŚ
âŚand even a few expensive-looking items people had accidentally dropped over the years.
