A violent attempted robbery outside Caesars casino in Atlantic City escalated into a tragic and life-altering incident that has deeply affected both law enforcement and the local community.
According to reports from the scene, officers responded to an emergency call involving an armed robbery attempt outside the casino complex. What initially appeared to be a routine response quickly turned into a dangerous confrontation that would have devastating consequences.
When police arrived, they encountered suspects who were still in the process of carrying out the robbery. As officers moved in to intervene, the situation escalated rapidly. In a sudden act of violence, shots were fired.
One of the responding officers, 29-year-old Jostle Vadell, was critically injured during the exchange. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where doctors worked urgently to stabilize him. He was later placed on a ventilator as his condition became critical.
Medical officials confirmed that the injuries left him paralyzed, marking a life-changing outcome for a young officer who had responded in the line of duty.
A Case That Shook Law Enforcement
The incident resulted in the death of one of the suspects at the scene, identified as 25-year-old Jerome Damon, while two other individuals involved, Demetrius Cross and Martel Chisolm, were taken into custody shortly after the shooting.
Both surviving suspects were charged with multiple serious offenses, including attempted robbery and attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.
Authorities described the case as a violent and senseless escalation of a criminal act that could have ended very differently had the suspects chosen not to resist arrest.
The injured officer’s condition quickly became a focal point for the law enforcement community. Fellow officers, colleagues, and departments from surrounding areas expressed solidarity and support for Vadell and his family as he continued to fight for recovery.

When the suspects appeared in court, the atmosphere was described as tense and emotionally charged.
