Grief has a way of changing everything.

According to the custom, each coin carries a message.
A penny generally means someone visited the grave.
A nickel can indicate that the visitor attended boot camp or military training with the veteran.
A dime often suggests that the visitor served alongside the veteran in some capacity.
A quarter may signify that the visitor was present during significant moments of the veteran’s military service.
While interpretations can vary depending on the community and location, the overall meaning remains remarkably consistent.
Someone came to remember.
Someone came to pay respect.
