Authorities in central Kentucky are investigating a deadly bank robbery that left two employees dead on Thursday afternoon, triggering a large-scale manhunt for an armed suspect who remains at large.
According to Kentucky State Police, the incident occurred during daylight hours when a masked individual entered a local bank and opened fire, killing two employees before fleeing the scene. Officials have described the attack as highly violent and are urging the public to remain cautious as the search for the suspect continues.
Law enforcement agencies responded within minutes of emergency calls reporting shots fired inside the bank. When officers arrived, they secured the area and confirmed that two employees had suffered fatal injuries. Emergency medical teams attempted life-saving measures, but both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims, pending notification of their families. Investigators have described the event as a targeted robbery attempt that escalated into extreme violence, though the exact motive remains under investigation.
Suspect Description Released
Police have issued a detailed description of the suspect in hopes of generating public assistance. According to officials, the individual is believed to be approximately 6 feet 3 inches tall and was seen wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark gloves, gray pants, and light-colored athletic shoes at the time of the incident.
The suspect was also reported to be wearing a mask that concealed most facial features, making identification more challenging. Authorities believe the suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting and may still be armed.
State police have urged residents in the surrounding area to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, particularly individuals matching the description or attempting to avoid public view.
Large-Scale Manhunt Underway
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including local police, state troopers, and federal partners, have joined the search effort. Helicopters, K-9 units, and tactical response teams have been deployed across nearby roads, rural areas, and potential escape routes.
Investigators are also reviewing surveillance footage from the bank and surrounding businesses to trace the suspect’s movements before and after the robbery. Officials say early evidence suggests the suspect acted alone, though all possibilities remain under review.
Authorities have not confirmed whether any money was taken during the robbery, as the focus of the investigation currently remains on locating and apprehending the suspect.

The incident has shocked the local community, where violent crime of this nature is rare. Residents described a sudden police presence and lockdown-like conditions as officers secured the area and began their investigation.
One nearby witness said they initially heard what sounded like loud bangs before seeing law enforcement vehicles rushing toward the bank. “It all happened so fast. Then suddenly there were sirens everywhere,” the resident said.
Local businesses temporarily closed as a precaution while police continued their search operation in the area.
