• Douching
• New or multiple sexual partners
• Smoking
• Disruption of vaginal microbiome
It’s important to know that BV is not always classified strictly as a sexually transmitted infection (STI), but sexual activity can influence bacterial balance.
Why treatment matters
While BV may seem mild, untreated cases can increase the risk of:
• Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
• Pregnancy complications
• Increased susceptibility to other infections
Treatment typically involves prescription antibiotics.
2️⃣ Candidiasis (Yeast Infection)
📌 What causes it?
Candidiasis is caused by an overgrowth of the fungus Candida, which normally lives in small amounts in the vagina without causing harm.
When the balance is disrupted — due to antibiotics, hormonal changes, high sugar levels, stress, or weakened immunity — Candida can multiply.
