It might sound surprising, but improper charger use is one of the most overlooked household hazards. Many people unknowingly create risky situations that could lead to overheating, damage to devices, or even electrical accidents.

One of the most common mistakes is placing a charger in a position where the cable is bent sharply or under constant pressure. For example, plugging your phone in while the charger is tightly pressed against a wall, bed, or piece of furniture can slowly damage the internal wires. Over time, this can lead to exposed wiring, sparks, or overheating.

Another risky habit is leaving your charger plugged in without proper ventilation. Chargers generate heat during use, especially when fast charging. If the adapter is covered by pillows, blankets, or clothing, that heat gets trapped. Without airflow, temperatures can rise quickly, increasing the risk of malfunction.

Many people also charge their phones on soft surfaces like beds or couches. While it may seem convenient, this is actually one of the most dangerous habits.
