🥐 The Secret Mushroom-Ham Puff Pastry My Grandmother Said Only Good Cooks Know… Crispy Outside, Creamy Inside! 🤤✨ See more…

1. Prepare the Mushroom Filling

Start by heating butter or olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for about 5–6 minutes until they become tender and slightly golden.

If you like deeper flavor, add minced garlic and cook for another minute. Season lightly with salt and pepper.

Let the mushrooms cool slightly before using them in the pastry.

2. Prepare the Puff Pastry

Roll the thawed puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface.

Spread the cooked mushrooms evenly across the center, leaving a small border around the edges.

Next, add the diced ham and sprinkle shredded cheese over the top.

3. Roll the Pastry

Carefully roll the pastry into a log shape, sealing the edges to keep the filling inside.

Place the roll seam-side down on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Using a knife, gently score the top of the pastry with small diagonal cuts. This allows steam to escape and helps the pastry bake evenly.

4. Apply the Egg Wash

Whisk one egg and brush it lightly over the pastry.

This step helps create the beautiful golden color and shiny crust that makes puff pastry so appealing.

5. Bake Until Golden

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake the pastry for about 25–30 minutes or until it becomes golden brown and crisp.

As it bakes, the cheese will melt inside and the pastry will puff up into delicate layers.
