🚨 Keep Your Puppy Calm and Still

Movement can cause venom to circulate faster through the body.

• Try to hold your puppy or keep him lying down

• Avoid letting him walk or move around

• Speak calmly to reduce stress

Even excitement can increase heart rate and spread venom faster.

🐾 Keep the Bite Area Low

If you know where the bite is:

• Try to keep the bitten area below heart level

• Avoid lifting the limb or letting the puppy jump

This may help slow venom movement slightly until the vet can treat him.

❌ Do NOT Try These Old Snakebite Methods

Some common advice online can actually make things worse.

Do NOT:

• Cut the wound

• Try to suck out the venom

• Apply ice or cold packs

• Use a tight tourniquet

• Give human medications

These methods can damage tissue or worsen venom spread.

👀 Watch for Serious Symptoms

Coral snake venom affects the nervous system and breathing muscles.

Signs the vet will want to know about include:

• Heavy or rapid breathing

• Weakness or wobbling

• Drooling

• Difficulty swallowing

• Paralysis or extreme lethargy

Breathing problems are especially important because coral snake venom can affect respiratory muscles.
