I nodded.
“Most important things are.”
A few students nearby were laughing and taking photos with friends.
The scene reminded us both of another school.
Another time.
Another version of ourselves.
Charlotte looked at me.
“You know, Tyler, if I could tell those kids one thing, it would be this.”
“What?”
She smiled.
“You never know how much a simple act of kindness can change someone’s future.”
I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Because twenty years earlier, one invitation to prom had changed everything.
Not just for me.
But eventually, for both of us.
